The Natural Approach to Skin Rejuvenation
When it comes to how our skin looks, most people are concerned with minimizing fine lines, thin tissue, large pores, acne scars, dark spots, and sun damage. The good news is that treatments for these skin imperfections have improved greatly and cosmetic procedures addressing these issues are growing in popularity.
Collagen is a naturally-occurring fibrous structure that gives the skin its elasticity and strength. Unfortunately, collagen production decreases with age and can contribute to lackluster skin quality, including wrinkling and sagging in the undereye areas and around the cheeks.
The answer? PRF fillers!
Table of Contents:
Platelet-rich fibrin, or PRF, is the newest natural dermal filler solution for slowing visible signs of aging. Additive-free and chemical-free, PRF filler is derived from the body’s own resources and is a natural alternative to other dermal fillers.
PRF is sourced from the blood and contains exceptionally-high concentrations of fibrin and white blood cells. This leverages the natural healing properties of platelets, fibrin, and white blood cells to help regenerate the skin while stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.
Did You Know?
Improving the skin’s radiance beneath the eyes with fillers is a very popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure. Injectables now rank as the most sought-after cosmetic treatment (approximately 3.4 million patients in 2020), according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
PRF is extracted from the blood and separated into a biomaterial with a centrifuge before a procedure. A trained clinician then applies this natural healing compound into the skin through microscopic injection areas where platelets bind to the fibrin, releasing growth factors in the body.
The natural growth factors in the blood’s platelet-rich material may:
– Improve cellular activity
– Boost collagen production
– Rejuvenate the skin’s appearance
– Enhance skin tone, texture, and tightness
– Volumize problem areas
– Reduce fine lines and pores
The immediate results from PRF therapy generally are reported to last for one to three weeks and the long-term benefits of PRF therapy may take multiple sessions to produce sustainable results. The number of sessions needed depends on numerous factors such as health, age, skin type, and the desired outcomes.
Better known as Microneedling & PRF, this groundbreaking procedure can help with even the most stubborn cosmetic concerns such as large pores, acne scars, dark spots, sun damage and wrinkles.
First, non-invasive microscopic needles are used on the skin to encourage the development of collagen by creating tiny micro-injuries. A sample of blood is then drawn from the arm and placed in a centrifuge to separate the components. Rich cells containing growth factors and healing proteins are extracted from your own blood and then introduced into the micro-injuries. This process works to enhance the body’s ability to heal and refresh the skin by giving a smoother, firmer and more youthful look.

Is PRF a filler?
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a naturally-occurring solution that is used to help treat the visible signs of aging. PRF uses your blood; more specifically, a highly-concentrated formula of platelets, fibrin, and white blood cells which are then injected like fillers to treat aging or deflated skin. It’s not the same as traditional synthetic fillers.
How long do the results of PRF last?
PRF facial injections are recommended to be performed in a series of treatments, usually 6–8 weeks apart. Initial volume enhancement will typically last 1–3 weeks, which will eventually dissipate. Long-term effects such as collagen production, skin tightening, and enhanced skin quality may take up to 3–4 months to be noticed and can last between 6–12 months.
Improvement of scars is long-lasting. Visible improvement following PRF treatment is typically seen after 6 weeks or more from the initial treatment. It’s important to note that deep lines and advanced wrinkling cannot be reversed.
Is PRF better than regular fillers?
When combined, PRF and dermal fillers provide outstanding results. While PRF does take a little longer to see results (up to a year after the initial treatment in some cases), the results from fillers are generally immediate. Essentially, the skin reaps the benefits of lifted, more firm appearance right away and the PRF slowly works its underlying magic as time goes on.
What’s the Difference between PRF and PRP?
In PRF production, fibrin (a clot-inducing compound) is allowed to form, ultimately producing tiny scaffold-like structures that enable platelets to be released more slowly once they’ve been injected. Conversely, PRP production and PRP Therapy in general, uses an anti-coagulant to prevent a blood sample from clotting while it’s being processed.
