Is PRF a filler?

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a naturally-occurring solution that is used to help treat the visible signs of aging. PRF uses your blood; more specifically, a highly-concentrated formula of platelets, fibrin, and white blood cells which are then injected like fillers to treat aging or deflated skin. It’s not the same as traditional synthetic fillers.

How long do the results of PRF last?

PRF facial injections are recommended to be performed in a series of treatments, usually 6–8 weeks apart. Initial volume enhancement will typically last 1–3 weeks, which will eventually dissipate. Long-term effects such as collagen production, skin tightening, and enhanced skin quality may take up to 3–4 months to be noticed and can last between 6–12 months.

Improvement of scars is long-lasting. Visible improvement following PRF treatment is typically seen after 6 weeks or more from the initial treatment. It’s important to note that deep lines and advanced wrinkling cannot be reversed.

Is PRF better than regular fillers?

When combined, PRF and dermal fillers provide outstanding results. While PRF does take a little longer to see results (up to a year after the initial treatment in some cases), the results from fillers are generally immediate. Essentially, the skin reaps the benefits of lifted, more firm appearance right away and the PRF slowly works its underlying magic as time goes on.

What’s the Difference between PRF and PRP?

In PRF production, fibrin (a clot-inducing compound) is allowed to form, ultimately producing tiny scaffold-like structures that enable platelets to be released more slowly once they’ve been injected. Conversely, PRP production and PRP Therapy in general, uses an anti-coagulant to prevent a blood sample from clotting while it’s being processed.
